Abstract
Background: The use of magnification devices in endodontic treatment has become increasingly popular. These devices allow clinicians to visualize the root canal system in greater detail. The present study aimed to assess the effect of magnification devices used for endodontic treatment and their benefits among undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as endodontists, in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the effect and benefits of magnification devices in endodontic treatment among undergraduate and postgraduate students, and endodontists in Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey administered to these groups. The questionnaire assessed their level of experience with magnification devices, their perception of the benefits of using these devices, and any challenges they may face while using them.
Results: The study involved 368 participants, predominantly male (62%) and affiliated with government institutions (73.9%), with the highest academic representation from fifth-year students (31%). Magnification device usage was reported by 44.8% of participants, with surgical microscopes perceived as the most effective (83.6%). Significant associations were found between academic year, institution type, and the usage and perceived effectiveness of magnification devices.
Conclusion: This study highlights significant trends in the usage and perception of magnification devices among dental professionals at different academic levels and practice settings. The majority of users, especially those in advanced academic stages and private practice, recognize the effectiveness of surgical microscopes. These findings suggest that tailored strategies could enhance the integration of magnification devices, improving clinical outcomes and ergonomic benefits for dental professionals.

Key words: Magnification devices, endodontics, cross-sectional study, surgical microscope
