The role of artificial intelligence in assisting patient education post-rhinoplasty

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and effectiveness of ChatGPT-4 in addressing some of the frequently asked questions and concerns of patients following rhinoplasty.
Methods: This study was an observational study that assessed the adequacy and reliability of ChatGPT-4 in responding accurately to the care-related questions and concerns that recuperating patients who had undergone rhinoplasty. The focus of this study was to determine how well ChatGPT-4 can be used in situations where a patient does not have access to a medical professional.
Results: The findings of this study indicated that rhinoplasty patients can use ChatGPT-4 as a reliable source of supportive information post-surgery. The results showed that ChatGTP-4’s reliability was at the same level as that of a senior consultant facial plastic surgeon. The artificial intelligence (AI) tool provided accurate, clear, understandable, and relevant responses to all five questions, meaning that any patient who had those questions could rely on ChatGPT-4 to identify a course of action.
Conclusion: ChatGPT-4 has enormous potential to provide important supportive information to rhinoplasty patients to facilitate recuperation. Although the role of healthcare professionals remains paramount, AI can efficiently provide urgent information, especially if the intervention of a medical professional is not urgently accessible. Hence, AI offers notable promise in improving and facilitating patient care, including post-rhinoplasty.
