Raghad Khalid Alnassar, Alhassan Mohammed Ajeebi, Alaa Akhamsan.

Abstract
Periodontitis is a common immune-inflammatory oral disease. Salivary biomarkers could be a feasible addition to their daily practice, presented that a quick and easy, the non-invasive sampling technique is used to reduce the burden. Salivary interleukin (IL)-1β, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-8, pyridinoline cross-linked carboxyterminal telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP), and Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) display high prevalence in the populations of interest and are strongly related to periodontitis. Herein we reviewed the recent literature about rapid non-invasive tools for periodontitis screening in medical care settings. A web-based article search by different databases like Directory of Open Access Journals, PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Embase, and Cochrane electronic databases was done.

Key words: Rapid, Non-invasive, Salivary, Periodontitis, Screening
